In his Letter to the Ephesians Saint Paul writes, “Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ” (Ephesians 5:21). Later he adds, quoting from Genesis 2, "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh" (Ephesians 5:31).
